While Fulham continue to lead the way in the Championship the picture below them is much less clear.
Bournemouth look the most likely to be promoted in second place, with a four point lead and games in hand on the teams below them but they face a tricky fixture tonight with Nottingham Forest the visitors.
The Cherries suffered an embarrassing exit in the FA Cup at the hands of Boreham Wood but either side of that they’ve won their last three in the league and that is undoubtedly Scott Parker’s main focus. Those wins have got things back on track after consecutive defeats to Hull and Preston.
Forest have received lots of plaudits since the arrival of Steve Cooper in September, none moreso than for their FA Cup wins over Arsenal and Leicester City whom they trounced 4-1 at the City Ground. Those results were impressive enough but Cooper has also overseen a rise from the relegation zone to play-off contenders, losing just four of his 23 league games in charge – and three of those to teams currently above them in the table.
Forest at 15/4 look a little on the big side, especially when you consider they’ve picked up more points on the road than at home. You can keep the draw onside by backing them on the Double Chance market at 10/11 (better odds of 2.070 on the Asian Handicap +0.5) or Draw No Bet at 12/5.
In Italy, Juventus have had the upper hand in the Turin Derby. You have to go back to 2015 for Torino’s last win, a run of 15 meetings without a victory and that doesn’t look like ending tonight. Juve are nine points off the pace in Serie A but can’t be ruled out of the title race just yet and should claim the three points at 3/5.
In Germany, Bayer leverjusen have been on fire lately. Four wins in a row have seen them score 15 goals and move within five points of third placed Borussia Dortmund. Tonight’s opponents, Mainz, have a good home record though so rather than take the 6/5 on Leverkusen win back them to keep their to leave with at least a point on the Double Chance market in a double with Juve.
