West Brom have the chance to regain top spot in the Championship with a win at home to Birmingham tonight.
A defeat at Stoke last time out was a bit of a reality check for the Baggies as they suffered their first defeat of the season but after a two week long wait they can bounce back against the strugging Blues who are without a win in five.
It’s been 15 long years since the Brummies last won this fixture and the bookies don’t fancy their chances of bucking that trend tonight, making them almost 5/1 to win. Instead look to West Brom, who are 4/7 to win. Only Bournemouth and Derby have conceded fewer goals than the Baggies and Birmingham have failed to score in six of eleven league matches so it could pay to back them to win to nil at 13/8 (Bet365).
In Scotland, Hamilton host Partick Thistle in a match that’s live on BBC Scotland. The Accies have struggled this term after dropping down from the Premiership, but they produced their best result of the season last time out with a 2-1 win over top of the table Inverness.
Visitors Partick Thistle have lost their way a little after a promising start. But a 4-0 win over Ayr United a fortnight ago appears to have gotten things back on track. Goals have been flowing in Thistle’s matches with 30 scored in 8 Championship matches so far (3.75 per match) and with Hamilton bouyed by that big win over Caley we could see Over 2.5 goals here which pays 5/6 at SBK.
Edinburgh City were expected to be the team capable of giving Kelty Hearts a run for their money in Scottish League Two but it’s taken them a while to get motoring. They’ve now picked up 11 points from their last 15 but the measure of their resurgence will be tested by the visit of Kelty tonight.
As expected the league’s new boys have looked a class above the rest of the division. After the first round of fixtures Kelty are unbeaten (W7 D2) having scored 19 and conceding just six. They’ve rarely blown teams away but have a happy knack of picking up three points. This will be as tough a match as they’ll face in the league so the 1/2 looks a little short and probably best avoided.
Over half of Kelty’s games (5 of 9) have finished under 2.5 goals as have seven of Edinburgh’s nine fixtures so the 11/10 on there being less than three goals makes most appeal.
