Frustratingly, I am suspended this weekend, so it’s only the one fixture at Bath for me today. My thoughts are very much with the Royal Family following the sad passing of Prince Phillip. I was pleased to see the Queen enjoy a winner at Newmarket this week for Andrew Balding.
Friday: Bath 4:40pm – Accrington Stanley
ACCRINGTON STANLEY (8/1
) is a horse I’ve not ridden before, but I’ve been watching his recent races back. He’s been an ultra-consistent horse for George Scott and today has his first run for Paul George. He dealt with the drop back to five furlongs well at Newcastle on his latest start, so this 5 ½ furlongs trip at Bath should be perfect for him. Being drawn eight of 10 at Bath isn’t ideal though, so we’ll need things to fall our way.
Friday: Bath 5:10pm – Mercurial
MERCURIAL (17/2
) is a horse I’ve been to ride out on at Tom Dascombe’s yard. He’s a sharp two-year-old with plenty of dash. Tom certainly knows how to ready them first time out and he nearly had a winner on Monday with one that was well supported. It’s very hard to know how they’ll handle their first day on the racecourse though. Hopefully, he’ll learn plenty whilst also being very competitive.
Friday: Bath 5:40pm – Wings Of A Dove
This is a very competitive listed contest for fillies and mares over five furlongs. I ride WINGS OF A DOVE (40/1
) for Richard Spencer. Richard is very happy with her and thinks she is capable. On her form, you can see why! She was a very good second to Ubettabelieveit at Sandown in the National Stakes in July and he went onto finish 3rd in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Keeneland! We have an OK draw in nine but given it’s such a big field, we’re going to need a bit of luck but Richard’s horses are running well and she could be an each-way price.
Stay safe,
Hayley!
