IT’S another action-packed Friday night and I’m heading to French Ligue 2 in search of goals as we approach the business end of the season as clubs fight for promotion and to avoid dropping into the National Ligue.
I would say 18 of the 20 clubs still have something to play for and the match involving Sochaux and Paris FC really intrigues me. Bookies have this match priced a massive 5-2 over 2.5 goals which you don’t often see in the second tier of a European league. I’m going against the grain here and feel there is value in backing goals despite the bookies’ 3-10 on under 2.5 goals
Sochaux vs Paris FC (7pm)
Two clubs with plenty to play for as struggling Sochaux look to collect a vital 3 points against automatic promotion hopefuls Paris FC.
The 5-2 for over 2.5 goals is the biggest price I’ve seen for goals in this league for quite some time and while I’m not suggesting it will see three or more goals, it presents us with a great price on over 1.5 goals.
I can understand why the odds compilers have this as a nailed on under 2.5 goals given nine of Sochaux last 13 games have seen under 1.5 goals scored but they are on a good run of results having collected five points from their last three games against some strong opposition.
Paris have had a terrific season and are in a three-way battle for the last automatic promotion spot. They’ve won five of their last six on the road and will feel confidant about securing another three points against lowly Sochaux.
Both sides have almost an identical 50% under 1.5 goals record and there aren’t any stats to back up goals in this match but with Sochaux much improved and both sides with plenty at stake I cant ignore 4-5 for over 1.5 goals.
I’m also going to back 21+ goals to be scored across the 8 matches. It’s the lowest total Sky Bet are offering but still worth a punt.
