THAT’S the Nations League over and mixed results for the home countries on Thursday with wins for England and Wales and a second 1-0 defeat in four days for Scotland.
After the euphoria of beating Serbia to reach the Euro 2020 finals it’s been back to reality for Steve Clarke and his squad as they missed out on promotion to the A league and a second bite at World Cup qualifying.
England had already lost out to Belgium but rounded off their campaign with an impressive 4-0 win over Iceland at Wembley. Coral reacted by making them 5-1 joint favourites to win the Euros next summer.
They are alongside Belgium at the head of the betting followed by France (11-2), Spain (7-1), Germany (8-1) and the Holland (9-1).
Mason Mount (1-6), Jack Grealish and Phil Foden (both 1-3) are all odds on to be in the final squad for the tournament and impressed against Iceland with Mount scoring and Foden bagging a double.
To win Group D at Euro 2020 it’s 2-5 England, 10-3 Croatia, 11-1 Czech Republic and Scotland and England are 4-11 to go furthest of the home nations with Wales 10-3 and Scotland 6-1.
Midfielders to make England’s Euro 2020 squad: 1-33 Jordan Henderson, 1-25 Raheem Sterling, 1-20 Jadon Sancho, 1-10 Declan Rice, 1-6 Mount, 1-3 Foden, Grealish, 2-5 James Maddison, Evens Kalvin Phillips, 11-10 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 6-4 James Ward-Prowse, Harry Winks, 2-1 Ashley Maitland-Niles, 9-4 Dele Alli and 3-1 Ross Barkley.
Well done to all the winners on Wednesday including Kevin Mac and SlipsTips on their match preview – Thursday is a quiet day ahead of the return to league football.
