Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Finnish Veikkausliiga and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two sides in decent form in the Veikkausliiga meet at the Wiklöf Holding Arena late Wednesday afternoon, as AC Oulu travel to the Åland Islands to take on IFK Mariehamn.
Mariehamn secured their biggest victory of the season last time out, as they thrashed second-from-bottom Lahti 6-0 at home. Lukas Syberyjski’s side have now won three of their previous four in the league, including each of their last two in front of their supporters. The Grönvitt have found the back of the net in each of their last 11 Veikkausliiga matches as hosts, scoring on multiple occasions in four of their previous five. The Islanders have registered just five clean sheets in their opening 23 league outings, conceding 33 goals.
Oulu followed up their 1-6 victory at bottom-side HIFK by defeating the same opposition 4-1 in their last league outing – extending their unbeaten run in the league to five matches (W3-D2-L0). Ricardo Duarte’s side have won half of their last eight league fixtures on the road, collecting 13 points from a possible 24 (W4-D1-L3). Oulu remains the only team in the Veikkausliiga to have scored in every away game, with only VPS (29) scoring more than their tally of 22. Oulu have conceded in 8/11 of their away fixtures this season, conceding nine goals in their last four.
Bet of the Day
Mariehamn come into this in a confident mood, with them having won three of their last four, but they face a tough test against an Oulu side who are unbeaten in five matches themselves. Both sides have been scoring plenty of goals in recent weeks and given neither team is particularly tight at the back, I’m expecting to see at least three strikes with both sides contributing – something that has landed in the two previous meetings between the pair this season.
