Following Thursday night’s winner at Frankfurt, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the English Championship, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me.

Ipswich will look to keep the pressure on Championship leaders Leicester as they welcome Coventry City to Portman Road in a fixture that I’m keen to back the hosts to continue their extraordinary goal-scoring record at home.
Kieran McKenna’s hosts are the leading scorers in the English Championship, banging in 39 goals across their opening 18 matches, with a remarkable 28 (72%) of them coming in front of their supporters. The Tractor Boys have scored at least twice in all nine of their Championship matches on home soil – scoring three or more in each of their previous eight – and I’m backing them to score at least twice against a Coventry City defence that has registered a solitary clean sheet on their travels this term, shipping multiple goals in 3/4 (75%) of them when travelling to sides currently positioned in 10th and above.
Mark Robins’ visitors have scored 23 goals across their opening 18 Championship fixtures this season, with 13 (57%) of them coming on their travels. The Sky Blues have found the back of the net in 7/9 (78%) of their away matches in the Championship this term – scoring on multiple occasions in four of their previous six – and will look to trouble an Ipswich backline that has registered a solitary clean sheet across their last eight league contests at Portman Road, shipping multiple goals in six (75%) of them.

Ipswich’s opening nine Championship fixtures on home soil this campaign are averaging 4.89 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in each of their previous eight – and given 5/9 (56%) of Coventry’s away encounters have featured at least three goals – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be three or more goals, with the free-scoring hosts scoring at least two of them.
