Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the English Championship, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me.

Two clubs at opposite ends of the Championship table meet at Hillsborough on Wednesday night as table-topping Leicester travel to rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday in a fixture I’m keen to back the visitors to claim a low-scoring victory.
Leicester’s 1-2 victory away at struggling QPR at the end of October was their 13th win from their opening 14 matches, but The Foxes went on to lose their opening two in November, suffering successive 1-0 defeats at home to promotion-rivals Leeds and away at improving Middlesbrough. However, Enzo Maresca’s charges returned to winning ways at the weekend thanks to a second-half Jamie Vardy brace to defeat Watford 2-0, re-establishing their three-point lead at the top of the Championship table. Not only are Leicester (31) the second-highest scorers in the Championship, but they boast the division’s meanest defence, shipping just 10 goals across their opening 17 matches.
Despite taking the lead just before halftime, Sheffield Wednesday suffered yet another defeat at the weekend, as Wayne Rooney secured his first win at the sixth time of asking as new Birmingham City thanks to a 2-1 victory. The Owls have now lost 13 of their opening 17 matches back in the English second-tier this term (W1-D3-L13), with their solitary win coming against fellow Yorkshire strugglers Rotherham. Only Norwich (32) and Rotherham (33) have conceded more goals in the Championship than Wednesday, with Danny Röhl’s side also failing to score in 10 of their previous 13 league outings, scoring just four goals in that run.
Bet of the Day
To say these two clubs have endured contrasting seasons so far is an understatement, with The Owls picking up just six points from their opening 17 matches back in the Championship, whilst Leicester have won 14/17 (82%) of their league matches since relegation from the Premier League.
12/14 (86%) of The Foxes victories in the Championship this season have seen Under 4.5 Goals land – and given all bar one of Sheffield Wednesday’s 13 defeats in the Championship this term have featured fewer than five goals – I’m willing to throw in under 4.5 Goals alongside a Leicester victory.
