Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the game in the Finnish Veikkausliiga and I like the look of both sides getting on the scoresheet.
FC Honka vs HJK
🇫🇮 Veikkausliiga
⏰ Thursday 29th September, 16:00
Two of the top three in the Finnish Veikkausliiga meet at the Tapiolan Urheilupuisto late Thursday afternoon, as third-placed Honka plays host to table-toppers HJK.
Honka come into this having suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season, as they followed up their 2-1 defeat away to Haka by losing 1-2 at home to HJK – their first home defeat of the season. Honka have now failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last four matches, conceding on multiple occasions in three of them. Honka have only failed to score in two of their 22 league matches this season, finding the back of the net in each of their last 14. Honka are the leading goal-scorers in the Veikkausliiga, netting 45 times this season, with 29 of those coming in their 11 home matches.
HJK’s excellent run of form continued last time out, as they scored a late winner for the third match in a row, this time defeating SJK 2-1 at home. The record Finnish champions have now won eight of their last nine matches in the league, including each of their last five. Toni Koskela’s side have also failed to find the back of the net just twice in the league this season and they come into this having scored in each of their last 11. Klubi have only managed to register three clean sheets in their last 12 games in the Veikkausliiga, with them conceding in four of their last five when on the road.
Bet of the Day
HJK remain five points clear at the top of the Veikkausliiga table after second-placed KuPS lost 3-1 away at SJK yesterday and they come into this fixture full of confidence, with the capital club having won eight and drawn one of their last nine league fixtures. They travel to a Honka side that have lost each of their last two matches – including a stoppage-time defeat to HJK last time out.
However, Honka remain the top-scoring side in the Finnish top-tier and they’ll be confident of breaching an HJK defence that’s conceded in four of their last five league outings on the road. Toni Koskela’s table-toppers have found the back of the net in 21/23 of their league fixtures this season and I expect them also to get on the scoresheet against a Honka defence that’s conceded seven goals in their last four matches.
