Guaraní will look to maintain their recent impressive run of form, as they play host to second-bottom Sportivo Ameliano at the Estadio Rogelio Livieres on Thursday evening.
Guaraní made it four wins from their last five, as well as three successive wins on the road, as two goals in either half secured a 0-2 victory at Tacuary. Fernando Jubero’s side have W2-D1-L1 of their last four at home, with their defeat coming against reigning champions Cerro Porteño and their draw coming against league leaders Libertad last time out. Sportivo Ameliano put an end to their three-match losing streak in dramatic fashion last time out, as they scored twice from the 90th minute onwards to rescue a point at home to Nacional Asunción. Humberto García’s side have the joint-worst away record in the Paraguayan top-flight, collecting just six points from a possible 27 (W2-D0-L7). Sportivo Ameliano have amassed just three clean sheets from their opening 19 league fixtures (joint lowest) and have the divisions leakiest defence, conceding on 35 occasions. 15 of those goals they’ve conceded have came in their nine matches on their travels, with La V Azulada conceding on multiple occasions in six of those.

Guaraní are one of the in-form sides in the Paraguayan top-flight at the moment, winning four and drawing one of their last five matches and they’ll be confident of securing another three points against poor-travelers Sportivo Ameliano. Fernando Jubero’s hosts have found the back of the net 17 times in their last eight matches, scoring on multiple occasions in six of them and given Humberto García’s visitors posses the divisions leakiest defence, conceding 35 times in their opening 19 league fixtures, I’m happy to back the home side to find the back of the net at least twice in the Paraguayan capital of Asunción on Thursday evening.
