Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the English third-tier and there’s a side at home that I like the look of to collect all three points.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Burton Albion
🏴 League 1
⏰ Tuesday 1st March, 19:45
Sheffield Wednesday will look to strengthen their position inside the playoffs, as they host mid-table Burton Albion at Hillsborough. The hosts are currently 6th and have two games in hand over the three sides directly above them, whilst the visitors are 14th, 13 points above the relegation zone.
Sheffield Wednesday kept up their good recent run of form going last time out, as they defeated Charlton Athletic 2-0 at the weekend. Darren Moore’s side have now won six of their last seven in League 1, only losing to league leaders Rotherham United on that run. Sheffield Wednesday have a strong record at Hillsborough this season, with them W10-D4-L2, with both defeats coming against 1st placed Rotherham United and 4th placed Oxford United. The Owls have kept the joint-most clean sheets in the league at home (8) and have conceded the fewest goals, conceding just 12 times from their 16 matches.
Burton Albion’s winless run was extended to three last time out, as they lost 0-2 at home to 17th placed Shrewsbury Town. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side have now won just two of their last 10 matches in League 1, losing five of them. Burton have collected 16 points from a possible 51 on their travels so far this season, with all bar two of those coming against sides currently below them in the League 1 table. Only four sides have scored fewer on their travels in League 1 than Burton, with the Brewers scoring just 14 goals in their 17 matches.
Bet of the Day
Sheffield Wednesday recent form has got them inside the playoffs and they can leapfrog Sunderland into 5th if they collect all three points this evening. Darren Moore’s side have won six of their last seven, as well as five of their last six at Hillsborough and they’ll be confident of securing all three points against a Burton side that’s W0-D2-L7 away to sides currently in the top-half of the League 1 table. Given the Owls have the league’s meanest defence at home, conceding just 12 goals from their 16 matches, coupled up with the fact that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s visitors have scored just 14 goals on their travels so far this season, I’m happy to add in under five match goals alongside the home win. This selection has landed in 14/16 of the Owls wins this season, as well as all 15 of the Brewers defeats.
- Sheffield Wednesday to Win & Under 4.5 Goals
- Pays 10/11 (Betway/Skybet)
