After over a week off away on holiday, my Football Bet of the Day returns on Tuesday Evening, and one of the Euro 2024 qualifiers in particular catches my eye.

North Macedonia will look to keep their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024 on Tuesday evening as they travel to the Ta’ Qali Stadium to take on minnows Malta.
North Macedonia made a winning start to the campaign as they won the reverse fixture 2-1 at home, but Blagoja Milevski’s side then suffered two bad defeats in contrasting manners. Firstly, they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 2-3 at home to Ukraine before a 7-0 thrashing at Wembley against England. However, The Risovi put in a spirited performance against Italy on Saturday evening and scored an equaliser in the final quarter of an hour to claim an impressive 1-1 draw.
After that opening night loss in Skopje, Malta have unsurprisingly gone on to lose each of their next three Euro 2024 qualifiers at home to both England and Italy, as well as away against Ukraine without scoring a single goal. Michele Marcolini’s men have been victorious in just three of their previous 18 competitive fixtures (W3-D2-L13), with two of those wins coming against San Marino (208th) in the Nations League last year and the other against Cyprus (118th) in World Cup qualifying two years ago.

Since March of 2021, North Macedonia have gone to the likes of Italy (8th), Germany (15th), Armenia (90th), Gibraltar (198th) and Lichtenstein (200th) and won – and given Malta have lost at home to England (4th), Croatia (6th), Italy (8th, Russia (38th), Slovakia (47th, Slovenia (61st) and Estonia (111th) in that timeframe – I can’t see anything other than a victory for the visitors North Macedonia (68th) who are 103 places above Malta (171st) in the FIFA rankings.
