After making it four winners from the previous five in France on Thursday, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the opening fixture of Round 8 in the Portuguese top flight, and the possibility of goals appeals to me.

Boavista will look to jump into 3rd position in the Primeira Liga table above city-rivals Porto as they travel to the Parque Moreira de Cónegos to take on newly promoted Moreirense in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Rui Borges’ hosts have scored 10 goals across their opening seven fixtures back in the Portuguese top-flight, with nine (90%) of them coming across their last five matches. Os verdes e brancos have made the net bulge in 5/7 (71%) of their league outings – including in all three on home soil – and they will be confident in breaching a Boavista backline that is yet to register a clean sheet in the league this term, shipping 12 goals across their opening seven matches.
Only Braga (18) have scored more goals in the Primeira Liga this term than Boavista, with Petit’s visitors banging in 17 goals, with seven (41%) of them coming across their three road trips. Os Axadrezados have found the back of the net in each of their opening seven league outings – striking two or more goals in five (71%) of them – and they should be more than capable of adding to their goal-tally against a Moreirense defence that has already shipped multiple strikes away at Sporting (1st) and at home to both Porto (3rd) and Braga (5th).

Boavista’s opening seven Primeira Liga fixtures this season are averaging a whopping 4.14 goals per game, with all seven seeing goals at both ends, with six (86%) of them producing a minimum of three strikes, and even five (71%) of them have broken the Over 3.5 Goals barrier – and given 5/7 (71%) of Moreirense league fixtures have featured at least three strikes – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be at least three strikes in what promises to be an entertaining encounter in Northern Portugal tomorrow evening.
