Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me stay in the German Bundesliga, and I’ve come up with a Bet Builder featuring goals and cards to get Mainz onside.

Two clubs in contrasting form in the German Bundesliga meet at the MEWA Arena as eighth-placed Mainz host relegation-threatened Hoffenheim on Saturday afternoon.
Mainz secured their fourth victory from their previous five Bundesliga fixtures, as they thrashed Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-0 last Friday night. After winning just one of their opening eight Bundesliga fixtures as hosts (W1-D4-L3), the Carnival Club have gone on to win each of their next three, and they’ll be confident of extending that winning run to four against their struggling visitors.
After collecting 17 points across their opening 10 Bundesliga fixtures (W5-D2-L3), Hoffenheim have been on an absolutely abysmal run of form, registering just a further two points from a possible 36, which has seen them slip into the relegation playoff spot – above 17th-placed Bochum only on goal-difference. It’s been three defeats from three for Pellegrino Matarazzo since taking the reigns at Hoffenheim, including a 0-1 loss at home to Borussia Dortmund last week in a match they somehow conceded just the once.

Mainz have been scoring goals for fun since the turn of the year, finding the back 18 times across their seven matches. 12 of those strikes have come across their previous three home fixtures, and I like the look of Bo Svensson’s hosts bagging a brace for the fourth consecutive home match against a Hoffenheim defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous 12 Bundesliga fixtures, shipping multiple goals in nine of those matches.
To nudge the price up slightly, I’m happy to throw in the visitors to be shown a card. Mainz have drawn a card from 20/22 (91%) of their Bundesliga opponents this season, whilst the Sinsheim-based club have received a card in all bar one of their 22 league outings.
