France will look to seal their place in their second consecutive World Cup Final, as they take on surprise-package Morocco at the Al-Bayt Stadium.
Despite a defeat against Tunisia in their final group match, wins over Australia and Denmark proved to be enough to top Group D for the French. Didier Deschamps’s side comfortably defeated Poland 3-1 in the Round of 16 before that dramatic quarter-final with England on Saturday night. After a Harry Kane penalty cancelled out Aurélien Tchouaméni’s strike, the England captain failed from the spot the second time around, ensuring France sealed a 2-1 victory.
Morocco surprised many in Group F, as they collected seven points from a possible nine to finish top, above Croatia, Belgium and Canada. Walid Regragui’s side then defeated 2010 champions Spain on penalties, reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the very first time. The Atlas Lions’ then created even more history by becoming the first-ever African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final, following that impressive 1-0 victory over the Portuguese on Saturday.

Morocco maintained their remarkable defensive record in the quarters against Portugal by keeping yet another clean sheet. The Atlas Lions have now shut out Croatia, Belgium, Spain and Portugal in this tournament, with the only they’ve conceded being an own-goal in their group-stage victory over Canada.
I backed against Morocco against Portugal on Saturday and got burned badly, but I think they’ll ultimately fall short against the reigning champions. The North Africans have been resolute defensively this tournament, but I’m backing a French side inspired by Kylian Mbappé to claim a low-scoring victory inside the 90 minutes and keep themselves on course to be the first nation since Brazil in 1962 to regain their World Cup crown.
