Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me once more focus on the Nations League fixtures and there’s a side that I like the look of to find the back of the net at least twice.
Austria 🇦🇹 vs France 🇫🇷
🇪🇺 Nations League
⏰ Friday 10th June, 19:45
France will look to claim their first win in the Nations League at the third time of asking, as they travel to Vienna to take on Austria at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion.
Ralf Rangnick reign as Austria coach began with an impressive 0-3 away to Croatia, but his side were unable to make it back-to-back victories, as they lost 1-2 at home to early pacesetter’s Denmark on Monday evening. Austria had a mighty disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign, where they finished in fourth position, seven points off second-placed Scotland. Das Team collected 16 points from a possible 30 in World Cup Qualifying (W5-D1-L4), however, four of their five wins came against minnows Moldova and the Faroe Islands, with the other coming at home to Israel. Austria conceded 17 goals in World Cup qualifying, with their only two clean sheets coming away against Moldova and the Faroe Islands.
After beginning their Nations League campaign with a 1-2 defeat at home to Denmark, France were pegged back once more on Monday night, as they drew 1-1 away to Croatia courtesy of an 83rd-minute Andrej Kramarić penalty. In contrast to their start in the Nations League, France went through their World Cup qualifying campaign unbeaten (W6-D2-L0) and finished six points ahead of second-placed Ukraine to book their place at this years World Cup. Didier Deschamps saw his side find the back of the net in all eight of their World Cup qualifiers, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions.
Bet of the Day
France come into this match having collected just a solitary point from their opening two Nations League fixtures but I expect them to get back to winning ways at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion on Friday evening. The Austrians struggled defensively throughout their World Cup qualifying campaign, conceding 15 goals in their six qualifiers against Israel, Scotland and Denmark and Ralph Rangnick saw his side concede twice in a 1-2 defeat at home to the Danes on Monday night. France scored in all eight of their World Cup qualifiers, as well as both of their opening Nations League fixtures and I can’t see this leaky Austria defence keeping the visitors out. Given the need for three points for Didier Deschamps’s side and the fact they should be at full-strength here, I’m happy to take them to score at least twice in the Austrian capital on Friday evening.
- France to Score 2+
- Pays 19/20 (SBK)
