Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Italian Serie A and the French Ligue 1. I fancy both league leaders to collect all three points to give us a nice odds against double.
Inter vs Torino
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Wednesday 22nd December, 17:30
Newly crowned ‘Winter Champions’ Inter host midtable Torino at the San Siro on Wednesday evening. The hosts come into this four points clear of both Napoli and Milan at the top, whereas Torino sit in 10th and only three points behind Lazio in 8th.
Inter kept up their scintillating form last time out as they defeated basement boys Salernitana 0-5 in Salerno. That’s now six wins on the spin for reigning champions Inter in Serie A, a run that saw them score 19 times and conceding just twice, with them keeping a clean sheet in each of their last five. Not only have Inter got the leagues best attack, scoring 48 goals in their opening 18 fixtures, but they also posses the leagues second best defence, with Simone Inzaghi’s side conceding on just 15 occasions. Inter remain unbeaten at home in Serie A this season, winning six of their eight matches, only dropping points to both Atalanta and Juventus.
Torino made it back to back wins for only the second time this season, as they defeated Hellas Verona 1-0 in a match the visitors played the majority of the game with 10 men. Both of those victories came at home however, with Ivan Juric’s side struggling on their travels so far this season. Only five of the 25 points Torino have collected this season have came away from home, with the Granata losing five of their eight matches, including four of their last five. Torino have also struggled against sides in the top eight this season, collecting just a solitary point from their seven matches.
Lorient vs PSG
🇫🇷 Ligue 1
⏰ Wednesday 22nd December, 20:00
Ligue 1 Leaders PSG will look to collect another three points as they travel to the Stade du Moustoir to take on a struggling Lorient side. The capital club are 13 points clear of Marseille in 2nd, although have played a game more, whereas Lorient are 18th and currently occupy the relegation playoff spot.
Lorient were thumped 4-1 away to fellow strugglers Metz in their last Ligue 1 outing, extending their winless run to 11 matches. Christophe Pélissier’s side have not won since a 1-0 triumph over Nice on the 22nd of September and have lost each of their last seven in Ligue 1, in which they’ve conceded on 16 occasions and scoring just twice. Lorient also posses the worst attack in Ligue 1, scoring just 14 goals in their opening 18 fixtures.
After back to back draws again both Nice and Lens, PSG got back to winning ways last time out as they defeated Monaco 2-0 at the Parc des Princes. PSG have won 14 of their 18 matches in Ligue 1 this season, with all nine of the points they’ve dropped this season coming against sides in the top six. Unsurprisingly, PSG are currently the top scorers in Ligue 1, scoring on 38 occasions, with 17 of those coming in their nine away matches. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have the second best defensive record in the league, conceding just 16 times so far this season.
Bet of the Day
Inter have already secured top spot for Christmas but will seek another three points as they play host to Torino. Inter have been in superb form recently, winning each of their last six in Serie A and should collect another three points against a Torino side that’s collected just five points from their eight away matches. Simone Inzaghi’s side have kept a clean sheet in each of their last five matches and with Torino scoring just four times on their travels, I don’t see them causing Inter too many problems at the back. Only three sides have conceded fewer than the Granata in Serie A though, therefore I’m happy to once again back an Inter win with under 4.5 goals, a selection that’s landed in all seven of Torino’s defeat this term. Despite being without both the injured Neymar and the suspended Mbappe, Mauricio Pochettino’s side should still collect all three points against a struggling Lorient side. Lorient are winless in their last 11 in Ligue 1, losing each of their last seven and I can’t see that run ending here. PSG have won all nine of their matches against bottom half sides, and should make it 10 against a severely out of form Lorient side.
- Inter to Win & Under 4.5 Goals
- PSG to Win
