Today’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me take on the dreaded World Cup Qualifiers. It features two sides at home that should defeat lower ranked opposition.
Finland vs Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan travel to Helsinki to take on Finland at their Olympic Stadium. Both sides are tied on two points, however Finland have played a game less. Finland are 56th in the FIFA rankings whereas Kazakhstan are 124th.
Finland’s first game after appearing at their first major finals in the summer was a 0-0 draw with Wales in a friendly on Wednesday, although they did play a weakened side. At home, Finland have won 9 of their last 12 competitive matches, with only Italy (5th), Wales (19th) and Bosnia (58th) avoiding defeat. Remarkably, in all nine of those victories, Finland kept a clean sheet with them all also featuring less than five goals.
Kazakhstan come into this after drawing their last two games in qualifying with Ukraine, including a 2-2 draw at home on Wednesday. Kazakhstan have lost 6 of their last 12 competitive away matches with their only two victories coming against sides ranked below them (Lithuania 134th and San Marino 209th). Out with their draw with Ukraine, their other three draws have came against sides ranked 99th and below. No more than four goals were scored in all six of those defeats Kazakhstan suffered on the road.
Scotland vs Moldova

Minnows Moldova travel to Glasgow to take on Scotland at Hampden on Saturday evening. Both sides have played four matches so far in qualifying, with Scotland having earned five points, whereas Moldova have just the one. Scotland are ranked 49th in the FIFA rankings whereas Moldova are 175th.
Scotland come into this after suffering a 2-0 defeat away to Denmark on Wednesday. Despite that disappointing result which included yet another embarrassing first half from Steve Clarke, they have a strong recent record on home turf. Scotland have only lost 2 of their last 13 matches at home which came against Belgium (1st) and Russia (41st). Scotland have won eight of those matches in 90 minutes with them scoring 2+ in six of them.
Minnows Moldova suffered another defeat on Wednesday, this time Austria defeating them 0-2. Moldova have suffered defeat in 10 of their last 12 competitive away games with their only victory coming against San Marino (209th). In those ten defeats, Moldova conceded 28 goals, with 8 of those coming against Denmark in their previous away match in qualifying.
Bet of the Day
Finland have had a strong recent record at their Olympic Stadium and I’m expecting them to continue that with a victory over lowly Kazakhstan. Finland don’t tend to score too many goals and with them extremely strong at the back, I’m willing to add in under 4.5 match goals. Scotland should bounce back from their defeat during the week and comfortably defeat a poor Moldova side by scoring at least a couple of goals.
