Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve back into the Dutch second-tier and there’s a match in particular that stands out to me for goals.
Telstar vs Dordrecht
🇳🇱 Eerste Divisie
⏰ Friday 18th March, 19:00
Two sides in the bottom-half of the Dutch Eerste Divisie meet at the Rabobank IJmond Stadion, as Telstar host Dordrecht. Both of these sides are currently sitting on 29 points, with the visitors one place above their opponents in 16th due to their slightly better goal difference.
Telstar come into this off the back of a 1-4 defeat at home to NAC Breda, despite taking an early lead. That loss means Andries Jonker’s side have now failed to win each of their last six matches, as well as winning just two of their last 18 in the Eerste Divisie. Telstar have recorded just six clean sheets in their opening 29 league fixtures this season, with just three of those coming in their last 20. Only three sides have conceded more goals than Telstar in the Eerste Divisie this season, with The White Lions conceding on 56 occasions. Telstar have scored in 22/29 of their league matches this season, including in 12/15 when playing at home.
Dordrecht extended their unbeaten run at home to six last time out, as they defeated Top Oss 1-0. That result also means Jan Zoutman’s side have lost just two of their last 11 in the league (W5-D4-L2), however both of those defeats have came in three of their last away games. No side has kept fewer clean sheets in the Eerste Divisie than Dordrecht’s tally of three, with just one of those coming on their travels. Dordrecht also have the leakiest defence in the division, with The Sheepheads conceding 66 goals, with 40 of those coming when playing away from home. Dordrecht have found the back of the net in 24/30 in the league this season, including in 13 of their last 14 matches.
Bet of the Day
Telstar and Dordrecht come into this separated by just one goal in the Eerste Divisie table and I reckon we could see an open game of football in Northern Holland. These two sides have struggled defensively this season, recording just nine clean sheets in their 59 combined matches and with the hosts scoring in 12/15 at home and the visitors scoring in 13 of their last 14, it’s likely we’ll see both get in the scoresheet here. No team has conceded more in the league than Jan Zoutman’s visitors (66) and given the hosts have the fourth-worst defensive record in the league themselves (56), I’m happy to add in over 2.5 goals along with both teams scoring in what should be a high-scoring game at the Rabobank IJmond Stadion.
