After frustratingly falling a goal short in the Netherlands on Friday night, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the EFL, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two of the form sides in League One meet at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday afternoon as 5th-placed Oxford entertain 9th-placed Northampton in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Des Buckingham’s hosts have scored 45 goals across their opening 26 matches in League One this term, with 22 (49%) of them coming in front of their supporters. The U’s have only failed to score at home against promotion-chasing Bolton – scoring on multiple occasions in eight of their previous 11 – and will be confident of breaching a Cobblers defence are without a clean sheet away from home in each of their last eight, shipping two or more in five of their previous seven.
Jon Brady’s visitors have scored 32 goals across their opening 26 contests in the English third-tier this campaign, with 12 (38%) of them coming on their travels. The Cobblers have found the back of the net in 8/12 (67%) of their road trips – scoring on multiple occasions in three of their previous four – and will look to trouble an Oxford defence that has kept five clean sheets at home this season, with four (80%) of them coming against teams positioned in 17th and below.

Over 2.5 Goals has clicked in a league-high 18/26 (69%) of Oxford United’s League One encounters this season, including in nine of their last 11 on home soil – and given the same has landed in each of Northampton’s previous seven away from home – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be three or more strikes between these two in-form sides on Saturday afternoon.
