Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Swiss Super League table meet at the Stadion Schützenwiese tomorrow afternoon as 10th-placed Winterthur play host to 8th-placed Lausanne-Sport in a fixture that screams out goals.
Despite their lowly position, Winterthur are the joint-third highest scorers in the Swiss Super League, slamming in 31 goals across their opening 17 matches, with 13 (42%) of them coming at home. Patrick Rahmen’s hosts have made the net bulge in each of their previous 16 league outings – scoring on multiple occasions in 11 (69%) of them – and will be confident of finding the target once more against a Lausanne Sports defence that is yet to register a clean sheet on their travels this term, shipping multiple goals in 7/8 (88%) of them.
Ludovic Magnin’s visitors have scored 25 goals across their opening 17 Swiss Super League matches, with 10 (40%) of them coming on their travels. Les bleu et blanc have failed to score in just two of their league contests – striking on multiple occasions in seven (41%) of them – and they too will be confident of getting on the scoresheet against a Winterthur defence that has not kept a clean sheet since the opening day of the season, conceding a league-high 39 goals.

Winterthur’s opening 17 Swiss Super League fixtures are averaging a league-high 4.12 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in 14 of their previous 16 – and given the same has landed in 7/8 (88%) of Lausanne Sports away league outings – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be three or more goals, with both of these sides finding the target, just like they did in a seven-goal thriller in the reverse fixture back at the end of August.
