Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the MLS and there’s one fixture in particular that stands out to me for goals.
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Colorado Rapids
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Thursday 18th August, 03:00
Two sides currently outside of the Western Conference play-off places meet at BC Place on Thursday morning, as the Vancouver Whitecaps play host to the Colorado Rapids.
Vancouver’s lost 5-2 against LA Galaxy in their last league outing, meaning they’ve won just one of their last seven league matches (W1-D3L3). Vanni Sartini’s side were on course to lose their third consecutive match at BC Place in their last home fixture, but scored two late goals to defeat Houston Dynamo 2-1. The Whitecaps have found the back of the net in 20/25 of their MLS fixtures so far this season, including in 10 of their last 11 in front of their own supporters. Vancouver have failed to register a single clean sheet in their last seven league outings, conceding on 16 occasions.
Colorado came from a goal down to draw 1-1 at the Columbus Crew last time out, meaning they’ve lost just one of their last seven MLS fixtures (W3-D3-L1). Robin Fraser saw his side win for the first time on the road this season at the 11th time of asking in their last away fixture, winning an extraordinary game 4-5 against the New York Red Bulls. The Rapids have found the back of the net in 13 of their last 14 league fixtures, scoring 18 times in their last eight. Colorado remain the only side in the entire MLS yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels, conceding 25 goals in their 11 away fixtures.
Bet of the Day
Both the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Colorado Rapids come into this round of games two and three points outside the Western Conference play-off places respectively, as the pair meet at BC Place in the early hours of Thursday morning. Vanni Sartini’s hosts have found the back of the net in 10 of their last 11 home fixtures and they should net against a Colorado defence yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels this season.
Robin Fraser’s visitors have scored in 13 of their last 14 league outings and they too should get on the scoresheet against a Vancouver defence that’s conceded 16 goals in their last seven. Given there’s been at least three strikes in six of The Caps last eight matches at home, as well as seven of Colorado’s last nine away, there’s a good chance we’ll see at least another three strikes here with both sides contributing.
