Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the matchday 5 of the Champions Lwagie. I’ve picked a couple of goal-based selections which I like the look of to give us an even money double.
Lille vs RB Salzburg

The top two sides in Group G meet at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy as Lille host RB Salzburg. The Austrian champions currently sit top of the table and know a win will secure their place in the last 16. Lille will go above their opponents in the group should they collect all three points.
Lille secured their first win in Group G last time out as they came from behind to defeat Sevilla 1-2 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. That win put them into second in the group and on five points. Domestically, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side have struggled all season and that is hugely down to being poor defensively. Lille have only kept one clean sheet in Ligue 1 this season, conceding 21 times. Lille have scored in 11 of their 14 Ligue 1 matches, including in each of their last five at home. 12/14 of Lille’s Ligue 1 matches have went over 1.5 goals, as well as two of their four Champions League matches, including the reverse fixture in Austria.
RB Salzburg suffered their first defeat in Group G last time out losing 2-1 to Wolfsburg. Prior to that, Salzburg had taken seven points from their opening three group games, including winning 2-1 in the reverse fixture. Unsurprisingly, Salzburg are the top scores in Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 34 times in their opening 15 matches. They have conceded nine goals domestically and have yet to keep a clean sheet in Group G. 9/15 of Salzburg’s league matches have seen over 1.5 goals as well as all four of their Champions League group games, will all four also seeing both sides scoring.
Young Boys vs Atalanta

The bottom two sides in Group F meet in a crucial fixture at the Stadion Wankdorf as Young Boys host Atalanta. Young Boys are currently on three points, two points behind their opponents on five points and the Italian side are two points behind both Man United and Villarreal.
Young Boys lost back to back games against Villarreal, conceding six goals in the process. Young Boys also lost the reverse fixture 1-0 in Bergamo to make it three defeats on the spin for the Swiss champions in Group F. 10. Domestically, Young Boys have only won one of their last four Super League matches, conceding seven goals. Young Boys have only kept three clean sheets in their 12 league matches and have conceding in all four of their group games, conceding eight times.
Atalanta were left frustrated against Manchester United once more last time out, as a late Cristiano Ronaldo goal levelled the game late on. The boys from Bergamo also took a two goal lead at Old Trafford, only to concede three second half goals to lose 3-2. In Serie A, Atalanta won 5-2 against Spezia at the weekend which means it’s only one defeat in their last 10. Atalanta have won 5/6 away from home in Serie A, scoring 14 goals. They also scored twice in each of their away matches in the group.
Bet of the Day
The top two sides in Group G meet in France with the winner taking a huge step to qualification to the last 16. Both sides have struggled defensively this season in Europe and Domestically and with both sides possessing plenty of attacking talent, there’s every chance we will see goals here. The reverse fixture finished 2-1 to Salzburg and there’s every chance both will score here, therefore I’m happy to back over 1.5 match goals. It’s a must win for both in Bern and I’m expecting Atalanta to be too strong for the Swiss champions. The Swiss side have been in poor form domestically and have lost each of their last three group games. Atalanta have been in good form lately in Serie A and we’re unfortunate only to take one point in both of their matches against Manchester United. They do struggle to keep clean sheets though, so the high scoring Italians may have to score twice to secure a vital three points.
