Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Italian Serie A and there’s one game that sticks out to me which should be entertaining and see lots of goals.

Two of the most entertaining sides in Serie A this season meet at the Artemio Franchi as Fiorentina host Sassuolo. The hosts come into matchday 18 in 5th position, two points above both Roma and Juventus. The visitors come into this this weekend in 12th, but just three points above Empoli in 9th.
Prior to their midweek Coppa Italia success over Benevento, Fiorentina disposed of Salernitana to bring up the first part of last Saturdays double. That’s now three wins on the bounce for Vincenzo Italiano’s men, as well as winning four of their last five in Serie A. I Viola have been outstanding at home this season, winning 6/8, including each of their last five, scoring at least three times in each of those victories. Fiorentina have scored 31 goals in their opening 17 Serie A matches, but 21 of those have come at home, with only Inter and Lazio scoring more. Fiorentina have only kept four clean sheets though, with all four coming against sides in the bottom six.
Sassuolo came from behind to defeat Lazio 2-1 at home last time out to keep up their good run of form. That’s now five games unbeaten for Alessio Dionisi’s side, a run which includes a 2-2 draw over 4th placed Napoli and 1-3 win over Milan in the San Siro. Remarkably, Sassuolo have scored two or more in nine of their last 10 in Serie A, with them only failing to score twice all season. Those two games they failed to score in both came at home, with the Neroverdi scoring in all eight of their away matches, finding the back of the net on 16 occasions. Whilst Sassuolo score plenty, they also concede plenty, recording just two shutouts all season, conceding in each of their last 11 in Serie A. Sassuolo are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road and have conceded 15 of their 26 goals whilst on their travels.
Bet of the Day
This fixture has all the makings to be a thriller with both sides full of attacking quality but vulnerable at the back. Both sides come into this in great form, with Fiorentina winning four of their last five, including each of their last three and Sassuolo unbeaten in their last five, which includes victories over both Lazio and Milan and a draw in Naples with Napoli. Fiorentina have also won each of their last five at home, scoring 17 goals, whilst Sassuolo have scored in all eight away games, scoring 16 goals, so it highly likely both sides will score at least once. Neither side are tight defensively, keeping only six clean sheets between them this season, conceding a combined 48 goals. Given the form both of these sides are in, the amount of goals they score and how vulnerable both sides are at the back, I’m expecting an open encounter between these two with at least four goals to be scored. Over 3.5 goals has landed in each of Fiorentina’s last three at home and five of Sassuolo’s last six matches in Serie A.
