Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Italian Serie A and there’s a match that stands out to me for goals.
Fiorentina vs Hellas Verona
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Sunday 6th March, 14:00
Two sides who are in the hunt for European qualification meet at the Artemio Franchi, as Fiorentina host Hellas Verona. The hosts come into this in 7th, one place and two points above their visiting opponents.
Fiorentina come into this off the back of two agonising defeats, firstly losing 2-1 to Sassuolo in Serie A, then losing 0-1 at home to bitter-rivals Juventus in the Coppa Italia in mid-week. Fiorentina have collected 25 of their 42 points at the Franchi (W8-D1-L3), with only Inter (1st), Napoli (2nd) and Lazio (7th) leaving Florence with all three points. Vincenzo Italiano’s side have found the back of the net in 21/26 of their Serie A matches this season, failing to score just once at home. Fiorentina also score majority of their goals at home, with 30 of their 45 goals scored so far this season coming in Florence. Fiorentina have recorded just six clean sheets in Serie A this season, with five of those coming against sides currently positioned in 14th and below.
Hellas Verona kept up their recent run of good form, as they defeated struggling Venezia 3-1 at the Bentegodi. Since the turn of the year, Igor Tudor’s side have collected 16 points from a possible 24 (W5-D1-L2) and come into this winning four of their last six (W4-D1-L1). Hellas are actually the fourth-highest scorers in Serie A, finding the back of the net 52 times in their opening 27 matches, failing to score on only four occasions. Despite their attacking quality, Verona do struggle defensively, with the Gialloblu recording just three clean sheets this season, conceding on 43 occasions, with 25 of those coming away from home.
Bet of the Day
Both Fiorentina and Hellas Verona have had brilliant seasons so far and both are well in the hunt for European qualification, with the hosts in 8th and the visitors in 9th, just two and four points off Roma in 6th respectively. These two teams are amongst the highest scoring sides in Serie A this season, scoring 97 goals between them, as well as finding the back of the net in 44/53 of their combined matches this season. Neither side are particularly strong at the back, recording just nine clean sheets between them, with eight of those coming against teams currently positioned in 14th and below. Given each sides records at both ends of the pitch, we should see goals here and I’m happy to back both teams to score and for there to be three or more goals in what should be an open and entertaining match at the Artemio Franchi on Sunday afternoon.
