Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the European action, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Rangers begin their Europa League campaign with a home clash against group favourites Real Betis, and once again in Europe at Ibrox, I’m keen to back goals.
Fans of Rangers have been left frustrated by the start to the campaign their team has made, as they currently sit 4th in the Scottish Premiership table, already four points behind bitter-rivals Celtic, as well as being eliminated from the Champions League following a 7-3 aggregate thrashing in the playoff round by a classy PSV side. Following that derby day defeat at home to Celtic just before the international break, Michael Beale’s side did at least return to winning ways at the weekend with a lacklustre 0-2 success away at struggling St Johnstone.
Just like their Scottish opponents, it’s been a mixed start to the campaign for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, as they have taken just seven points from their opening five La Liga matches, to leave them in 10th position, three points outside the top four. In truth, it’s been a tough start for Los Verdiblancos, as wins at home to Rayo and away at Villarreal have followed a draw at home to Atlético and away defeats at Athletic Club and Barcelona, the latter being a 5-0 thrashing by the Catalonia side on Saturday evening.

Over 2.5 Goals has remarkably banked in each of Rangers’ previous 11 European ties at Ibrox, with six (55%) of them producing four or more goals – and given each of Real Betis’ opening three La Liga fixtures on the road this season have produced an eye-catching 14 goals – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be at least three strikes in Govan on Thursday night.
