After focusing on Champions League qualifiers the previous two night’s, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me drop down to the Europa League qualifiers and I’ve picked out one match I like the look of goals in.
Hearts vs FC Zürich
🇪🇺 Europa League
⏰ Thursday 25th August, 20:00
Hearts play host to FC Zürich at Tynecastle Park in the second-leg of their Europa League play-off tie on Thursday evening, with the Scottish side looking to overturn a one-goal deficit following their 2-1 defeat in St Gallen last week.
Following their 2-1 defeat in Switzerland last Thursday, Hearts travelled to reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on Sunday and their much-rotated side lost 2-0 in a match they ended up finishing with nine-men. Robbie Neilson’s side now sit fourth in the table after four rounds of matches, with six of their seven points coming at home in victories over Ross County and Dundee United. The Jambos have found the back of the net in 18 of their last 21 league matches at Tynecastle, scoring six times in both of their home matches this season. Hearts are still yet to record a clean sheet from their five competitive outings this season, conceding four goals in their last two.
After their 2-1 success in the first-leg, Zürich made it back-to-back wins at the weekend, as they won 0-4 away at third-tier Cham in the Swiss Cup. It’s been a nightmare start to the defence of their Super League title for Franco Foda’s side, with them having collected just two points from their opening five league matches, leaving them bottom of the table. Outwith their matches against Linfield (twice) and Cham in the cup, FCZ have conceded 16 goals in eight competitive games this season. Whilst they’ve struck just once in the league, Zürich have scored 11 times in their previous five European outings, scoring on multiple occasions in each game.

Bet of the Day
It’s a massive night for Hearts at what will be at atmospheric and sold-out Tynecastle as they bid to qualify for the group-stages of the Europa League. However, in order to do so, they must overturn a one-goal deficit after they lost 2-1 in the first-leg in Switzerland, despite taking the lead.
The Jam Tarts have scored six times in their opening two home fixtures this season and I can see them adding to that tally against a Zürich defence that’s looked vulnerable this season. Franco Foda’s visitors have scored 11 goals in their five European fixtures this season and did cause the Hearts defence plenty of problems last week. Therefore, I can see them contributing in a match that I fancy to see at least three goals.
