Wedbesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me look at the match in the Italian Serie B and a match in the Scottish Premiership. I’m backing both the home sides to claim all three points to give us a nicely priced double.
Lecce vs Vicenza
🇮🇹 Serie B
⏰ Wednesday 26th January, 19:00
Two sides at opposite ends of the Serie B table go head to head at the Stadio Via del Mare, as Lecce host Vicenza. The hosts come into this in 3rd, but know a win will take them top, whilst the visitors are bottom, eight points adrift of the relegation playoff positions.
After Covid disrupted much of December, Lecce have began the new year with successive league victories over both Pordenone and Cremonese. Marco Baroni’s promotion-chasing side have lost just one of their last 18 matches in Serie B, winning four of their last five. Lecce are one of only two sides to still boast an unbeaten home record in Serie B, with the Giallorossi winning six and drawing three of their nine matches at the Via del Mare, with them winning four of their last five there.
Vicenza collected just their eighth point of the season last time out, drawing 3-3 at home to Cittadella. The Biancorossi have lost 14 of their 18 fixtures in Serie B this season, with their two wins coming against the two sides directly above them in the table. Christian Brocchi’s side have lost eight of their 10 matches against sides currently positioned in the top half, including all three away. Vicenza have kept just one clean sheet all season and have failed to score in 44% of their league matches so far this season.
Rangers vs Livingston
🏴 Premiership
⏰ Wednesday 26th January, 19:45
Rangers will look to get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership, as they host Livingston at Ibrox. The hosts are top of the league, four points clear of bitter-rivals Celtic, whilst the visitors are 8th, seven points clear of the relegation playoff spot.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst dropped his first points in the league as Rangers manager, as he saw his side draw 1-1 away to Aberdeen, a match they ended with 10 men. The Dutchman’s first league match in charge of Rangers was a 1-3 win away to Livingston, with him then going onto to win each of his next six, before dropping points at Pittodrie last week. Going back to the start of last season, the Teddy Bears are undefeated in each of their last 30 matches at Ibrox, winning 27 of them.
Prior to booking their place in the last-16 of the Scottish Cup, Livingston defeated 11th placed Dundee to go seven points clear of their opponents. David Martindale’s side have collected 12 points on the road so far this season, however 11 of those came against sides currently sitting in the bottom six, losing five out of six against the current top six. Only Dundee United and bottom side St Johnstone have scored fewer than Livi, with them finding the back of the net just 18 times in their opening 21 fixtures.
Bet of the Day
Lecce come into this knowing that if they collect all three points, they’ll go top of the Serie B table and they couldn’t of hand-picked a better opponent. Vicenza have collected just eight points this season, with the Biancorossi losing 14 of their opening 18 matches this season. Lecce are still unbeaten at home, winning four of their last five and I can’t see them dropping points against a poor Vicenza side. After dropping points away to Aberdeen last time out, Rangers will look to get back to winning ways at home to Livingston. Prior to that, Giovanni van Bronckhorst had won his opening seven league games in charge of the Gers and with the champions winning 27 of their last 30 at Ibrox, they should defeat a Livingston side that tend to struggle against the leagues better sides away from home. Rangers have conceded just one goal in their last seven in the league, keeping a clean sheet in their last four at home and with Livingston being the third lowest scorers in the league, I’m happy to throw in under 4.5 goals alongside a home win.
- Lecce to Win
- Rangers to Win & Under 4.5 Goals
- Double Pays 11/10 (Bet Victor)
