Following on from last night’s comfortable victory in Belgium, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German second tier, and there’s one fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Darmstadt will look to extend their lead at the top of the 2. Bundesliga on Friday, as they welcome entertaining Holstein Kiel to the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor.
Darmstadt came from behind to win 1-2 away at Karlsruher last time out, extending their winning run in the league to four matches. In fact, Torsten Lieberknecht’s side have not tasted defeat since the opening day of the season, winning eight and drawing three of their last 11 matches. Die Lilien have found the back of the net in each of their last 11 2. Bundesliga fixtures, scoring two or more in eight of them. Darmstadt have conceded in eight of their opening 12 league outings, with three of their four clean sheets coming against bottom-half sides.
Holstein Kiel also came back from a goal down to win their last match, defeating fourth-placed Heidenheim 3-1 to make it successive league victories. Those back-to-back victories have taken Marcel Rapp’s side up to sixth in the table, six points behind second-placed Paderborn. Die Störche have found the back of the net in all bar one of their opening 12 league tussles this season – scoring on multiple occasions in nine of them – and are the second-highest scorers with 23 goals. However, Holstein Kiel have also let in 23 goals in the German second-tier this season – with only second-from-bottom Magdeburg letting in more.
Bet of the Day
Darmstadt come into this fixture off the back of four successive victories and will look to extend their two-point lead at the top of the 2. Bundesliga, but they face a tough test against a Holstein Kiel side that’s won each of their last two. No side’s matches have averaged more goals per match than the 3.83 Holstein Kiel average, and we could be in for an entertaining encounter here.
Marcel Rapp’s visitors have scored in all bar one of their 12 league outings and are the division’s second-highest scorers with 23 goals and they will look to trouble a Darmstadt defence that’s conceded in eight of their opening 12 league tussles this season. However, Holstein Kiel also possesses the second-worst defence in the 2. Bundesliga, and it’s hard to envisage them keeping out a Darmstadt side that’s found the back of the net in each of their previous league outings, scoring 22 goals.
