Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Champions League semi-final at The Etihad, and I’m expecting to see plenty of goals.

Manchester City welcome reigning European champions Real Madrid to the Etihad in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, and it’s hard to envisage not seeing goals.
Man City are now within touching distance of claiming their fifth Premier League title in the last six years, as they won 0-3 at Everton and title-challengers Arsenal lost 0-3 at home to Brighton. After cruising through the group stage, Pep Guardiola’s men have seen off Bundesliga opponents in the previous two rounds, firstly by thrashing RB Leipzig 8-1 on aggregate before securing a comfortable 4-1 victory over perennial Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich over two legs.
A week after securing the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid relinquished their La Liga crown – as despite defeating Getafe 1-0 at home – saw Barcelona win 2-4 away at Catalan rivals Espanyol. After topping their group, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have cruised past English opposition in each of the next two rounds, firstly by defeating the team they beat in last year’s final, Liverpool, 6-2 on aggregate, before defeating 2021 winners Chelsea 2-0 in both legs.

Pep Guardiola’s hosts have found the back of the net in all 23 of their Premier League and Champions League fixtures in front of their supporters this season – scoring at least twice in a remarkable 21 (91%) of them – and I can’t see a Real Madrid defence that has conceded six goals across their previous four away Champions League matches keeping them out.
Carlo Ancelotti’s visitors have made the net bulge in all 11 of their matches in Europe this season, scoring on 26 occasions. Los Blancos have scored 2+ goals in eight (73%) of those fixtures – including two at Stamford Bridge and five at Anfield in the previous two rounds – and I expect them also to get on the scoresheet against a City defence that has conceded in 11 of their last 16 Premier League and Champions League contests on home soil.
