Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Australian A-League, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

League leaders Melbourne City welcome fourth-placed Central Coast Mariners to AAMI Park tomorrow morning in a match that promises goals.
Prior to the abandonment of their derby clash with Melbourne Victory last time out, Melbourne City suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 2-1 at Sydney FC. Rado Vidošić’s have now kept just one clean sheet in their last four matches, conceding five times. However, City are the third-highest scorers in the Australian A-League, netting 15 goals across their opening seven league fixtures, finding the back of the net in all seven of their league matches this season, scoring on multiple occasions in six of them – including all three as hosts.
The Central Coast Mariners made it back-to-back wins in the league last time out, as they recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over the struggling Newcastle Jets. That was just The Mariners second clean sheet in the league this season, conceding two or more goals in five of their opening eight. Nick Montgomery’s visitors are the leading scorers in the Australian A-League, scoring 18 goals across their opening eight league matches, finding the back of the net in all eight of their league fixtures – netting on multiple occasions in six of them.

Melbourne City and the Central Coast Mariners have made positive starts to their campaigns, and the key to their success is the number of goals they have been scoring. The pair have found the back of the net in all 15 of their combined league matches this season – scoring 33 goals between them – and I expect them both to get on the scoresheet tomorrow morning.
Collectively, Over 2.5 goals has landed in 13/15 (87%) of the pair’s A-League fixture this season, and given the number of goals either side has scored, I reckon we’ll see at least another three with both teams contributing.
