Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the the English League One and the Champions League and I’ve picked out a match in each league to give us a nicely priced double.
MK Dons vs Crewe Alexandra

MK Dons will look to keep the pressure on the top-two, as they host relegation-threatened Crewe at Stadium MK. The hosts are currently a point behind both Rotherham and Wigan, but have played one and two games respectively more than promotion-rivals, whilst the visitors are bottom, 12 points adrift of safety.
MK Dons made it seven wins from their last eight in League One on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated Shrewsbury 2-0 at home. Liam Manning’s side have now lost just one of their last 19 in League One (W13-D5-L1), as well as being unbeaten in each of their last 13, winning 10 of them. The Dons also come into this in decent form on home turf, winning five and drawing two of their last seven, with both draws coming against sides currently inside the top-nine. MK Dons have found the back of the net in 35/40 of their League One fixtures this season and only three sides have found the back of the net on more occasions than MK, with The Dons scoring 66 times.
Crewe’s losing run was extended to six matches on Saturday, as they lost 1-3 at home to relegation-rivals Fleetwood Town. As well as losing each of their last six, The Railwaymen have lost 13 of their last 14, meaning it’s highly-likely they’ll be playing in the fourth tier next season. Crewe have lost 11 of their last 13 away from home this season and no side has collected fewer points on their travels than David Artell’s men, with them collecting just nine points from a possible 57 (W2-D3-L14). Only Morecambe (79) and Doncaster (76) have conceded more goals in League One than Crewe, with The Alex conceding 74 goals from their opening 40 fixtures.
Benfica vs Liverpool

Liverpool travel to the Portuguese capital Lisbon to take on Benfica in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Estádio da Luz.
After finishing second in their group-stage behind German powerhouse Bayern Munich, Benfica were then drawn with Dutch champions Ajax and despite being the underdogs, they managed to secure a 3-2 aggregate win. Domestically, despite coming from two goals down, Nélson Veríssimo’s side their seven-match unbeaten run come to an end last time out, as they lost 3-2 away to fourth-placed Braga. Benfica have struggled for clean sheets so far this season, conceding in 20/28 of their Primeira Liga fixtures. As well as conceding nine goals in their two matches with Bayern, The Eagles have conceded 11 goals in their four matches against both Porto and Sporting CP this season.
After winning all six matches in the group-stage, Liverpool then knocked out Italian champions Inter to make it to the quarter-finals. Domestically, Jürgen Klopp’s side have been in superb form, winning each of their last 10 matches, to go within one point of league leaders Manchester City. The Reds have found the back of the net 19 times already in the Champions League this season, scoring two or more in 7/8. Liverpool are the highest-scorers in the Premier League (77), finding the back of the net in all bar one of their 30 fixtures, scoring on multiple occasions in 24 of them.
Bet of the Day
Both MK Dons and Crewe are not only at opposite ends of the League One table but they come into this in contrasting form. The Dons come into this unbeaten in their last 13, winning 10 of them and should be too strong for a Crewe side that’s lost 13 of their last in the league. Only three sides have scored more goals than Liam Manning’s hosts and I’m backing them to score at least twice against a Crewe side that has the worst away record in the division, as well as the third-worst defence.
Liverpool come into winning each of their last 10 in the Premier League to go within one point of leaders Manchester City and I’m backing them to be too strong for a Benfica side that are languishing third domestically. Jürgen Klopp’s side have scored two or more in 24/30 of their Premier League matches this season, as well as 7/8 in the Champions League and I’m backing them to score at least twice against a Benfica side that’s conceded nine goals in their two group-stage meetings with Bayern Munich and 11 goals in their four matches against fellow Portuguese powerhouses Porto and Sporting this season.
