Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me travel to South Korea and there’s a fixture I like the look of for goals at both ends. To boost the price up, I’ve added a cards angle to form a solid looking bet builder.
Suwon FC vs Pohang Steelers
🇰🇷 K League 1
⏰ Tuesday 21st June, 11:30
Two sides at opposite ends of the K League 1 league table meet at the Suwon Sports Complex, as second from bottom Suwon play host to fourth-placed Pohang Steelers.
Suwon put an end to their six-match winless streak last time out, as they scored on the 82nd-minute to win 0-1 away to Gimcheon Sangmu. Kim Do-kyun’s side have won just twice at home so far this season and come into this losing each of their last three in front of their own supporters, which were all against the current top-three. Suwon have only failed to score in one of their opening seven home matches this season (against reigning champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors) scoring on 14 occasions. However, the Suwon Dashers have registered just three clean sheets so far this season, with none of them coming at home. Suwon have received a card in all 16 of their league matches this season, with their opponents receiving one in 15 of them.
Pohang Steelers recorded their second win from their last three matches last time out, as they won 3-1 at home to Gangwon. After winning three of their opening four away matches, Kim Gi-dong’s side have failed to win each of their last five fixtures on their travels, drawing three and losing twice. Pohang Steelers have found the back of the net in 13/16 of their league matches, including in all eight against bottom-half sides. The Steelers have registered six clean sheets so far this season, however, half of those came in their opening four league matches and none have came in their last five games on their travels. Pohang Steelers have received a card in 15/16 of their league fixtures this season, including in all nine away from home, whilst their opponents have received at least one card in 12 of those matches.
Bet of the Day
Only Ulsan (26) and Daegu (23) have scored more goals in K League 1 than Suwon and Pohang Steelers (both 21) and I’m expecting to see more goals when the pair go head-to-head on Tuesday. 14 of those Suwon goals have come at home and there’s a good chance they’ll add to that tally against their visitors who have failed to win or keep a clean sheet in their last five matches on their travels. However, Kim Do-kyun’s hosts have the joint-worst defensive record and are yet to keep a clean sheet at home and I don’t expect them to shut out a Pohang side that have scored in all eight of their meetings with sides in the bottom-half of the table. These two teams have been carded in 31/32 of their combined league matches this season, therefore, I’m happy to back both sides to receive a card along with both sides to score in what should be a competitive clash at the Suwon Sports Complex.
