Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the match involving Belgium and Canada, and I like the look of both teams getting on the scoresheet.
⚽️ Belgium 🇧🇪 vs Canada 🇨🇦
🏆 World Cup 🌍
⏰ Wednesday 23rd November, 19:00
Belgium begins their World Cup campaign on Wednesday evening as they come up against Canada at the Al-Rayyan Stadium.
Belgium cruised through World Cup qualifying, as they finished top of their group, finishing five points clear of second-placed Wales. However, Roberto Martínez’s side failed to top their Nations League group in the summer as a pair of defeats against The Netherlands resulted in them finishing in second place, three points behind their near-neighbours. The Red Devils found the back of the net in 13/14 of their World Cup Qualifiers and Nations League fixtures but kept just four clean sheets in those matches.
Canada’s 36-year wait for an appearance at the World Cup finals finally comes to an end, as they booked their place in Qatar in impressive style. The Maple Leafs finished top of the CONCACAF table – ahead of the likes of Mexico, USA and Costa Rica – by winning eight and losing just two of their 14 qualifiers. John Herdman’s side found the back of the net in 11/14 of their World Cup Qualifiers – scoring 23 goals – whilst conceding just seven times across those matches.
Belgium vs Canada Match Preview
Bet of the Day
Belgium’s Golden Generation appears to be coming to an end, and many punters, myself included, are expecting them to struggle in Qatar. They begin their World Cup campaign against a Canadian side that’s making their first World Cup appearance since 1986, and I’m expecting an entertaining encounter in this one.
Belgium only managed to keep four clean sheets across their 14 World Cup Qualifiers and Nations League fixtures – with two of those coming against Belarus – and I can see their ageing defence conceding once again against a Canada side that found the back of the net in 11/14 of their World Cup qualifiers, and who are blessed with plenty of attacking talents such as Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and in-form Lille striker Jonathan David. Nevertheless, the Belgians have scored in 13/14 of their World Cup and Nations League fixtures, and they should have enough attacking quality to also get on the scoresheet.
