Following Wednesday’s late winner at Celtic Park, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me drop down to the Europa League, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

In a battle for top spot in Group B, Brighton play host to French giants Marseille at the AMEX tomorrow evening in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Roberto De Zerbi’s hosts have scored 42 goals across their opening 21 Premier League and Europa League contests this term, with 22 (52%) of them coming at home. The Seagulls have found the back of the net in each of those 21 matches – scoring on multiple occasions in 13 (62%) of them, including 4/5 (80%) in Europe – and will be confident of continuing their goal-scoring record in front of goal against a Marseille defence that is yet to register a clean sheet away from home in Ligue 1 this term, and who have recorded a solitary clean sheet across their seven European matches this season.
Gennaro Gattuso’s visitors have scored 38 goals across their 22 matches in all competitions this season, with 16 (42%) of them coming across their seven matches in Europe. OM have scored two or more goals in each of their five encounters in Group B – as well as in each of their previous three Ligue 1 tussles – and will be confident of making the net bulge against a Brighton backline that has registered just three clean sheets in league and Europe this season.

Both Teams to Score has banked in a remarkable 18/21 (86%) of Brighton’s Premier League and Europa League fixtures this season, with 14 (67%) of them featuring Over 2.5 Goals – and given Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 4/5 (80%) of Marseille’s matches in Group B – I’m hoping we see a similarly entertaining encounter to the four goals these two sides shared in the reverse fixture at the start of October.
