Two clubs in contrasting form in the Scottish Premiership meet at Fir Park tomorrow lunchtime as title-chasing Rangers travel to Fir Park to take on second-from-bottom Motherwell, and I’ve come up with a bet builder.
Following their League Cup triumph at Hampden last Sunday, Rangers continued their pursuit of leaders Celtic by recording a comfortable 2-0 success at home to St Johnstone. Phillipe Clement has now won nine of his opening 10 Scottish Premiership matches since taking charge in the middle of October – only dropping points in a 1-1 draw away at Pittodrie against Aberdeen – and will be more than confident of securing another maximum against their out-of-form hosts.
Motherwell made a bright start to their Premiership campaign, earning 10 points from their opening four matches, but things have since gone downhill for the North Lanarkshire club. Stuart Kettlewell’s men are now winless in each of their previous 14 Premiership contests (W0-D6-L8), with the Fir Park club sliding down to 11th position in the Premiership table, a point adrift of automatic safety.
Bet of the Day
Motherwell have remarkably failed to defeat Rangers in a league match since Boxing Day in 2002, and given the contrasting form both sides are in, I can’t see that run ending. To go alongside a Rangers victory, I’m happy to back them also to earn four or more corners, something they have achieved in 16/17 (94%) of their Premiership matches this term.
Finally, I’m happy to throw in the hosts to pick up a couple of cards. Rangers have drawn multiple cards from 11 of their previous 13 Premiership opponents, whilst The Well have collected two or more cards in 13/18 (72%) of their league tussles.
