Brazil’s quest to claim their sixth World Cup title begins on Thursday evening, as they take on Serbia at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.
Brazil maintained their record of qualifying for every single World Cup, as they finished top of the CONMEBOL table, six points clear of rivals Argentina. Tite’s men were impressive in booking their place at Qatar, as they went through qualification unbeaten, winning 14 and drawing three of their 17 qualifiers. A Seleção scored a whopping 39 goals across those 17 World Cup Qualifiers – whilst conceding just five times.
Serbia booked their place at their second consecutive World Cup in dramatic fashion, as they finished top of their qualifying group by overtaking Portugal on the final matchday. Dragan Stojković’s side also had a successful Nations League campaign in the summer, as they earned promotion to Group A by finishing above Slovenia and Scandinavian pair Norway and Sweden in Group B4. The Eagles scored an eye-catching 31 goals across their 14 World Cup Qualifiers and Nations League fixtures but managed just three shutouts in those matches.

After watching rivals Argentina and Germany succumb to shock defeats in the past couple of days, Brazil will be wary of doing the same against a talented Serbia side. However, the tournament favourites head to Qatar in scintillating form, meaning I’m happy to take them to win and to score at least twice against a Serbia backline that’s kept only three clean sheets across their 14 World Cup Qualifiers and Nations League fixtures.
To increase the price, I’m happy to throw in the Serbians to collect at least two cards. The South American giants saw all 17 of their opponents in World Cup Qualifying collect multiple cards, and they come up against a Serbia side that was shown two or more cards in nine of their previous 14 competitive fixtures.
