Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head back to the French Ligue 1 and I like the look of goals between two in-form sides.
RC Lens vs Troyes

Two sides who extended their unbeaten runs with a draw last weekend meet at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Friday evening, as high-flying Lens play host to entertaining Troyes.
Despite going down to 10-men and conceding five minutes later, Lens managed to maintain their unbeaten start to to their Ligue 1 campaign, as they equalised late on to draw 1-1 away at Reims. Franck Haise’s side defeated Lorient 5-2 in their last home fixture, meaning they’ve won each of their opening three league fixtures in front of their own supporters. Only league leaders PSG (24) and Montpellier (16) have found the back of the net on more than Lens (15), with 10 of those goals coming on home soil. The Blood and Gold have conceded in 5/6 of their Ligue 1 fixtures this season, with their solitary clean sheet coming away at bottom-side Ajaccio.
After losing each of their opening opening three Ligue 1 fixtures, Troyes come into this unbeaten in each of their last three, following a 1-1 draw at home to Rennes – despite playing over an hour with 10-men. Prior to that draw last time out, Bruno Irles’ side had won each of their last two, including an eye-catching 2-4 win away at Monaco. Troyes have found the back of the net in 5/6 of their league fixtures this season, as well as in 13 of their last 14 Ligue 1 matches on their travels going back to last season. ESTAC are still yet to record a single clean sheet this season and only Angers (17) and Brest (16) have conceded more than the 14 they’ve let in.
Bet of the Day
Lens have made a strong start to their Ligue 1 campaign, collecting 14 points from a possible 18 and they’ll look to maintain their 100% home record this evening. However, they’ll face a tough test against a Troyes side who come into this having taken seven points from their last three league outings. Given the form both of these sides are in, I’m expecting an entertaining encounter at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in a match full of goals.
Going back to last season, Bruno Irles’ visitors have scored in 13 of their last 14 Ligue 1 matches on the road and with them also having scored 11 times already this season, I expect them to trouble a Lens defence that’s only clean sheet this season came against rock-bottom Ajaccio. Franck Haise’s hosts have struck 15 times this season, scoring 10 of those at home and there’s a strong chance they’ll score at least twice against a leaky Troyes defence that’s yet to record a single clean sheet so far this term.
