A 60-year-old woman won USD 3.8 million (around EUR 3.3 million) at a slot machine in the US state of Florida. As reported by the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood casino, the woman from Fort Lauderdale hit the jackpot early Thursday morning.
Just 5 USD stake
At an IGT Megabucks slot machine, the winner was playing the $1 machine and had wagered a total of $5 and then won the progressive jackpot of 3,854,682.43 USD.
This is the highest prize in the history of Seminole Gaming’s six casinos and the highest prize ever won on an IGT slot in Florida, the operator said on Twitter.
The winner with the first name Laurie could hardly believe her luck:
I am completely in shock. You want to have big dreams, but this is really big. It’s not on the scale of what you think you can win. This is really a win by chance! I still think I am dreaming.
74.8 million USD in winnings since mid-June
Since its reopening on June 12, the casino has distributed more than $74.8 million in winnings. This included 29 jackpots with winnings of more than 50,000 USD, according to the operator.
With its reopening after a compulsory Corona break of several months, the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Casino has launched the so-called Safe + Sound program. This contains guidelines for protecting its employees and guests from the coronavirus.
The guidelines included compulsory masks, temperature measurements, disinfection measures and distance regulations. Guests who did not comply with the rules were asked to leave the facility.
The lucky winner now faced the “tough” decision of what to do with her prize. According to the casino, she wants to have storm protection windows installed, maybe buy an apartment or have her pool repaired.
