Union Berlin v Hertha Berlin
The Bundesliga roars back into action with a Berlin derby on opening weekend and Hertha have a new man in charge – Sandro Schwarz – after surviving via a relegation play-off last season.
Union were lording it above them in fifth place and it will be tough living up to those exploits.
Hertha have already had an early-season setback, crashing out of the German cup on penalties after a 4-4 draw with Eintracht Braunschweig last weekend, but I fancy their chances of getting a goal in a fixture that has delivered btts in four of the previous five meetings.
Same again pays a tempting 22-23 with SBK.
Strasbourg v Monaco
Strasbourg begin their sixth straight season in Ligue 1 against last season’s third-place side but have little to fear thanks to their excellent recent record in this fixture.
In the last eight head-to-heads, Strasbourg have suffered just one defeat and racked up five wins. They finished just short of Europe in sixth last season and will be aiming to improve on that with a strong start.
They won’t have it easy against a Monaco side preparing for a mammoth second leg in their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday after a 1-1 first-leg home draw. A draw wouldn’t be a surprise here and btts – which has landed in seven of the last nine meetings – is backable at 8-11 with William Hill.
Wolfsberger v LASK
Both these Austrian Bundesliga sides have picked up from where they left off last season with each of their opening two fixtures seeing goals at both ends.
For Wolfsberger, that means eight of their last nine league matches have brought up btts, while for LASK it’s six in a row.
They can both can the run going at 6-10 with William Hill.
