IT’S the Second leg of the last 32 in the Europa league and there is plenty to play for after some exciting first legs. Both Arsenal and Man United got positive results away from home last week and should see their seal their passage through to the last 16
There’s also a match from the Scottish Woman’s Cup that has caught my eye and its could be a league to really focus on this season as the woman’s game continues to grow in stature and increased coverage.
The game in question is Rangers v Queens Park and its really just a case how many the home side win by as they play a side who are way out of their depth against the better sides.
Man United vs Club Brugge (8pm
Arsenal vs Olympiakos (8pm)
Things looked bleak for United after an horrendous 2-0 home defeat against Burnley but a run of 6 games unbeaten, including wins over City and Chelsea have helped ease the pressure on the united boss.
A 1-1 draw in Belgium in the first leg sets them up nicely for tonight and they should be too good for a Brugge side who don’t travel well
Meanwhile at the Emirates, Arsenal can also be pleased with how they are performing, unbeaten in 10 (5 draws 5 wins) and in the Europa league have 12 wins from thEir last 17 at home (just two defeats) – they did the hard work in Greece last week and should win again

Rangers Woman vs Queens Park Woman (8pm)
My first foray into womans football in Scotland and I don’t think it will be the last as the game grows in stature and professionalism.
Glasgow City and Hibs have dominated womans football in Scotland for the last decade but as the game evolves and womans football becomes more and more popular, both Rangers and Celtic will be looking to make an impact (Both are also full time which shows just how serious the clubs are about progressing their woman’s teams)
Now this match stood out for me for a number of reasons:
- Rangers play in the SWFL 1, (Top flight) are full time and have made a number of additions to their squad as they look to compete with the leagues best sides
- Queens Park gained promotion from the Development league to the SWFL 2 (Second Tier) and have so far found the jump up to the SWFL 2 extremely challenging
Their opening two league games have come at home were they were hammered 6-1 by Hamilton then suffered another heavy 4-2 defeat to St Johnstone
I had a look to see how they were promoted and this is where is makes for very interesting reading. The played in the development league which meant they were playing against a number of regional clubs and other clubs reserve sides.
No surprise Glasgow City Reserves won the league, followed by Celic and Hibs reserves. The truth is they finished 4th, one place above Rangers Reserves and were essentially promoted by default as reserve sides cant get promoted. A bit like the Dutch 2nd tier with their reserve sides.
The jump to the SWFL 2 looks like it is going to be a massive step up and a huge gulf in the quality of the oppostion they are used to playing against ( you just need to look at their opening two results).
They travel to Rangers tonight in the cup and this is really just a case of how many goals Rangers will score. Sadly the bookies are well aware of this and have them priced at 1/40.
The goal line though is still worth backing and id be surprised if we didn’t see at least 6 goals tonight. The gulf in quality is going to be too much for Queen’s who are in for a long long season.
