Perhaps we were wrong to doubt Gambit Esports, who have yet to lose a match this tournament, but it’s not like they’re invincible. The Russians have dropped maps against MiBR, Cloud9 and NaVi, who are arguably playing worse than FURIA, so it’s hard not to have faith in the Brazilian side to surprise the reigning IEM Katowice champions.
FURIA have also done surprisingly well this tournament, and they haven’t really underperformed outside of their iffy showing against C9 on Monday. Considering how solid FURIA have been so far, it would make sense to view them at least equally as strong as Gambit, yet the esports bookmakers seem to disagree.

Despite what the latest CS:GO betting odds might suggest, there is not a lot to separate these two sides quality-wise. Perhaps Cloud9 field better players and have a higher ceiling, but the quality of the gameplay is at about the same level.
We don’t expect either team to make it far this tournament, but we can expect a close and exciting series on Wednesday. MiBR are priced as high as $2.71 to win, which are slightly bigger odds than we expected to see since we believe they have the tools to upset the disorganised C9.
Betting on MiBR is not a bad play, but we like the over 2.5 maps better as we don’t believe either side is capable of a clean sweep.
