The first major piece of silverware in England will be handed out on Sunday as Man City and Spurs contest the League Cup final. KevMac runs the rule over the match and suggest a couple of other bets in England this weekend.
Man City v Tottenham – Carabao Cup Final
MANAGERS rarely get sacked in the build-up to a cup final but this has been anything but a normal week for Tottenham.
News broke of Jose Mourinho’s departure just hours after Spurs were unmasked as one of the Super League rebels.
But that Euro breakaway had all the stability of Tottenham’s defence and had collapsed by the time Ryan Mason led the team for Wednesday’s clash with Southampton.
Spurs won that game 2-1 but it was far from a convincing display and it’s no surprise to see them as McBookie’s 21/4 outsiders for tomorrow’s Carabao Cup Final at Wembley.
This showpiece was hyped up as the first part of a glorious Quadruple for Manchester City.
But those dreams then evaporated last weekend as Pep Guardiola’s men crashed in the FA Cup semi, with my bet of under 2.5 goals landing as they lost 1-0 to Chelsea.
City are still 40/85 hot favourites with McBookie for a win in 90 minutes tomorrow and it’s hard to argue with that.
There’s little value in backing Guardiola’s men so I’m going for goals instead.
Over 2.5 strikes is a best 9/10 with Betfair and that looks good value while the odds increase to 41/20 at Unibet if you bet on over 2.5 City goals.
William Hill have some decent requested bets for the final and I like the look of over three corners for each team (8/5) and a header to be scored (5/4).
Newcastle v Liverpool
It’s all about the Premier League today and there’s a couple of cracking games for armchair fans.
The lunchtime clash sees Newcastle head to Liverpool after easing their drop fears in recent weeks.
Liverpool’s defence looked suspect again as they drew 1-1 at Leeds last time out so both teams to score stands a chance here at 22/19 with SBK.
The Magpies look a different team with Allan Saint-Maximin in the side and he’s overpriced at 13/2 (Unibet) for an Anfield goal.
But Liverpool also look much more like themselves going forward so I fancy over 2.5 Reds strikes at 21/20 with McBookie.
Jurgen Klopp’s men sit two points behind West Ham and Chelsea in the race for a top-four place but will make up some ground this weekend.
West Ham v Chelsea
That’s because the Hammers host the Blues tonight and it’s a game that should be tight.
A one-goal winning margin appeals at 7/5 with TonyBet while under 2.5 goals is also decent at 11/13 with SBK.
Football League
In the lower leagues, Hull can seal promotion from League One with a win at Lincoln today. They are 5/4 with McBookie to win and that looks worth a punt.
Cambridge can also go up from League Two if they beat Stevenage at home and are evens with McBookie to get the victory they need.
