THERE’s a cracking Bank holiday card in store in England with a full set of fixtures from the Championship right down to the National League North & South. I posted my shortlist earlier and its a card I really like the look of.
In the National League Ebbsfleet United travel to the south coast to play relegated Havant & Waterlooville and look worth backing at just under even money to aid their play off hopes. Havant’s neighbours Portsmouth head to Burton Albion and with both in great shape we should see both teams find the net, an outcome that happens in a high % of Pompey’s games on the road.
Havant & Waterlooville vs Ebbsfleet United (KO 3pm)
The hosts were finally put out of their misery last week as a 3-2 defeat at Solihull confirmed an immediate return to the National league South. Ultimately their shocking defensive record was their downfall – 77 goals conceded was the 2nd worst in the league despite scoring more goals than 14 other clubs in the league.
They’ve won just one of their last 13 games and have conceded 2 or more in 9 of their last 11. Difficult to imagine them being galvanised and up for this against an Ebbsfleet side who very much have everything still to play for.
The visitors have had a good month managing to pick up 4 wins 2 draws and just one defeat and on the road they’ve lost just one of their last 8.
They sit just outside the play spots on 66 points, 4 points behind Eastleigh who occupy the final play off place. This is a must win game for the Kent side and given their performances over the last month, their away form and the fact Havant are now down, the momentum and need for points sits with Ebbsfleet.
Recommended Bets:
- Ebbsfleet United to win
- 7/8 (Betway) (NAP)
- Ebbsfleet United over 1.5 goals
- 10/11 (Coral)
Burton Albion vs Portsmouth (KO 3pm)
Pompey are in a terrific position to snatch the final automatic play off spot and a win away at in form Burton will go along way to securing their passage to the Championship.
They are in terrific shape having won 7 of their last 8 and they’ve found the net in 19 of their 21 away matches in League One. 8 of their last 9 games on the road have seen both sides score and their is a good chance we’ll see both side net again here.
Burton have won 4 of their last 5, scoring 15 goals in the process and will be a tough proposition for Pompey.
Recommended Bet:
- Both Sides to Score
- 5/6 (William Hill)
English Goals Treble:
- WBA vs Hull
- QPR vs Blackburn
- Rochdale vs Wycombe
Pays 9/2 (888sport)
