While Mr Fixit continues his recovery from illness KevMac steps in to file his thoughts on the Premier League and the pick of the Championship on Saturday.
Leicester City v Crystal Palace (3.00pm)
The race for Champions League places takes centre stage in England today and Leicester desperately need a win to halt their freefall.
Brendan Rodgers’ men looked like certainties for third place earlier in the season but their form has dropped off a cliff since the Premier League resumption.
Chelsea missed the chance to jump above them on Wednesday by losing at West Ham but even a top-four finish is now in doubt with Manchester United and Wolves turning on the style to move within striking distance.
Leicester’s midweek loss at Everton made it four games without a win, with the Foxes only scoring once in that horror run, so they can’t afford another slip at home to Crystal Palace today.
The Eagles have lost their last two games without getting on the scoresheet so betting against goals could be the way to go.
Under 2.5 goals pays 5-4 with SportNation while the odds increase to 11-5 for under 1.5 strikes at Betfair.
Manchester United v Bournemouth (3.00pm)
In stark contrast, Manchester United have been scoring for fun, hitting nine goals in four games since returning to action. They host a Bournemouth side in dismal form so will fancy their chances of adding a few more to that tally.
Over 2.5 goals for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men pays 10-11 at BetVictor and I also fancy them to keep out Eddie Howe’s shot-shy side at the other end.
A United win to nil has come up in their last two league games and Sportingbet offer 7-10 on a repeat here.
Anthony Martial drew a blank against Brighton on Tuesday but hit a hat-trick in his last game at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman is 4-1 with Betfred to score two or more here and that’s good value if Solskjaer doesn’t choose to rest him.
Wolves v Arsenal (5.30pm)
Wolves haven’t put a foot wrong on their return to action, winning three games in a row without conceding. But the standard of opposition hasn’t been great, facing West Ham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, so the visit of Arsenal represents a step up in class.
The Gunners have hit a bit of form, winning three in a row to boost morale after defeats to Brighton and Manchester City.
They eased to a win over rock-bottom Norwich in midweek but Wolves have far more firepower and I fancy them to edge what should be an entertaining game.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are 5-4 for a win and that looks decent value and I also fancy both teams to score which is 10-11 at bet365.
Chelsea v Watford (8.00pm)
I fancied Chelsea to beat Leicester in the FA Cup last weekend they delivered to bring up my super single.
Frank Lampard’s side then followed that up with a shock loss to West Ham but should get back on track today against a Watford side in disarray on and off the pitch.
The Hornets’ shock win over Liverpool is their only victory in the last 11 games and they have drawn a blank on their last three road trips.
So a Chelsea win to nil looks the best option here at 27-20 with Sportingbet.
The Blues have been spreading the goals around and I’d expect Lampard to make some changes during a hectic run of games.
England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could come in and is good value for a goal at 11-4 with Paddy Power if he starts.
Norwich v Brighton (12.30pm)
The other Premier League game today sees struggling Norwich host a Brighton side who can take a huge step towards survival with a victory.
The Canaries need to go all out for a win with games running out so try both teams to score at 17-20 with Betway.
English Championship
Brentford are putting plenty of pressure on Leeds and West Brom in the race for automatic promotion.
The Bees have won all three games since returning to action and today face a Wigan side in low spirits after the club tumbled into administration.
Brentford have kept four clean sheets in a row but the Latics have been scoring freely so try doubling a home win with both teams to score at 13-5 with Coral.
Leeds burst many a coupon by dropping two points to Luton in midweek and the leaders face a trip to Blackburn today.
Rovers have lost their last two so back Marcelo Bielsa’s side at 7-10 with Genting.
Derby have won five league games in a row to boost their chances of promotion via the play-offs. They host bitter rivals Nottingham Forest today and a stalemate appeals at 9-4 with bet365.
