This season’s EFL Cup semi-finals are set to be quite different, with both ties coming down to a winner-takes-all one-off clash. One of the few changes made to this shortened season was to remove the two-legged semis for this competition, giving us two big clashes later this week.
With those semi-finals just around the corner, we’re looking ahead to each game and picking out a betting tip for each. Before that, we’ll take a quick look at the latest odds on who will lift the trophy in April.
Don’t forget that we’ll have more EFL Cup semi-final betting tips in our latest match predictions.

Tottenham vs Brentford best bet
Both Teams to Score
Tottenham have kept one clean sheet in their last six ahead of this game. We expect Jose Mourinho to tinker with his line up during this busy period for Spurs, but the Portuguese is unlikely to leave out his star attackers.
Brentford have proven they can hold their own in this competition after knocking out four Premier League sides to get here. The Bees come into this clash having seen both teams score in five of their last six and they should be expected to trouble Spurs at the back. Given that, we see both teams scoring in this semi-final.
Man United vs Man City
Man United’s path to the semis
- Luton (A) – 0-3
- Brighton (A) – 0-3
- Everton (A) – 0-2
Man City’s path to the semis
- Bournemouth (H) – 2-1
- Burnley (A) – 0-3
- Arsenal (A) – 1-4
Man United vs Man City best bet
Man United Double Chance
Manchester United are the form side coming into this one, winning five of their last six games to move level on points with Liverpool on Friday night. The Red Devils have also produced three straight wins at home, which suggests they’ll be tough for City to see off.
While Pep Guardiola has a brilliant record in this competition since arriving on these shores his City side were already struggling before getting hit with a strong of COVID-related absences. City drew 0-0 at Old Trafford just last month and we see the Red Devils at least claiming a draw.
The odds here don’t really reflect the recent displays of the two sides and as a result we see value in the hosts here. Manchester United Double Chance seems well priced and that’s the most appealing bet ahead of Wednesday’s clash.
