Seemingly no side in the NFC East is capable of putting a winning run together but on home soil Philadelphia will fancy their chances against the struggling Giants.
Eagles to Continue Giants Hoodoo
Philadelphia have an impressive record against their rivals from the Big Apple, with the Eagles coming out on top in all of their last seven meetings.
The Giants have only managed one win in their last 12 encounters with Philly, much to the disappointment of the New York faithful.
While the Eagles, who won the Super Bowl in 2018, have only managed one win this season, in a surprise victory against the San Francisco 49ers in California.
They did manage to push Super Bowl contenders Baltimore in their last outing and only ended up losing to QB Lemar Jackson and his talented Ravens side by two points.
That will give head coach Doug Pederson and his Philadelphia side confidence ahead of what really is a must-win game for the Eagles on home soil.
A Philadelphia victory is currently available at 5/12 on the money line, while the Eagles are 25/27 with -4.5 on the points spread.
A High-Scoring Affair Expected at the Lincs
Both Philadelphia and New York have issues on defence and Thursday night’s encounter could well be a high-scoring affair.
Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has had to deal with a regularly changing offensive line and wide-receiving unit due to injuries.
However, Wentz is adamant there are no excuses and it will be business as usual against the Giants this week.
“I just try and build them up,” Wentz said when asked about the constant change in personnel. “I try and build them up, and let them know that I believe in them, and really talk through it.
“Obviously … on a short week we don’t get the physical reps. It’s a lot of walk-throughs, so a lot of it is just conversation, understanding ‘this is what I’m looking for on these routes.’ … In a perfect world, we’d have all sorts of banked reps, and we’d have a whole offseason, and all those things. But it’s the hand we’re dealt, and there’s no excuse.”
Wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery look like they could return for the Eagles after recovering from their respective hamstring and foot injuries.
That would come as a welcome boost for Wentz and coach Pederson as they take on a Giants side that managed to overcome the Washington Football Team in their last outing.
The Giants are of course missing injured star running back Saquon Barkley, but they have attacking threats and should get some points against a vulnerable Eagles’ defence.
Points should be on the agenda and 25/27 is available for there to be over 45 points in the contest at Lincoln Financial Field.
