The Bundesliga has already thrown up plenty of surprises this term, with no teams having collected a maximum return from their opening four games, but there shouldn’t be too many surprises at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday evening.
BVB to Enjoy Handsome Success
It hasn’t exactly been a perfect start to the new season for Dortmund, as they have lost three games already this term, including a 3-1 defeat to Lazio in their opening Champions League Group F contest in Rome on Tuesday.
However, BVB’s concerns pale into insignificance when compared to Schalke, who have failed to win any of their last 20 Bundesliga games, a run that dates back to January, while they have lost their two away matches so far this term by an aggregate score of 12-0.
With the likes of Erling Haaland, Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho in their ranks, it would be no surprise to see Dortmund rack up a similarly big victory on Saturday, with the home side to win by four goals or more available at 59/20.
Bayern Face Potential Banana Skin
Reigning champions Bayern Munich face a tough looking home fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon, particularly as it comes less than three days after facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The Bavarians have also had an outbreak of coronavirus within their ranks with Serge Gnabry having tested positive, so a clash against unbeaten Frankfurt could hardly have come at a worse time.
Frankfurt also thrashed Bayern 5-1 on home soil last season, a result that led to Niko Kovac losing his job, although Adi Hutter’s side have lost on each of their last 12 visits to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern have also won eight games on the spin in the Bundesliga and they should, therefore, have enough to get the job done on Saturday, although it could be a close affair so backing the hosts to win by one goal at 27/10 could prove shrewd.
No European Hangover for Gladbach
Borussia Monchengladbach would be forgiven for having an off day this weekend, with all their focus having been on their midweek Champions League clash with Inter Milan in Italy, while we have seen many teams struggle off the back of such European excursions.
However, Marco Rose’s side have been handed a favourable fixture on Saturday, as they will travel to the Bundesliga’s bottom club Mainz, who are the only side yet to register a point in the division this season.
Indeed, Mainz have lost five Bundesliga matches on the spin, a run that dates back to last season, while they are still without a manager following the sacking of Achim Beierlorzer last month.
Gladbach, for their part, won 3-1 at Cologne in their last away league fixture, while they are unbeaten on their last five visits to Mainz, winning four of those games.
Anything other than an away victory on Saturday seems unlikely and Gladbach can be backed at 20/33 to claim all three points.
