He’s 5lb below last summer’s Newmarket win-mark and has shaped well in all three runs since joining Mark Loughnane. The filly Qipao sets the standard but Mark Johnston’s charge has plenty weight to give to the boys here. WAY TO WIN was a bit too keen at Chester last month and paid a price but his earlier soft-ground Lingfield maiden win was very promising and the handicapper has quickly eased him 3lb.

Walhaan was our original tip to win this seven furlong contest, but the James Tate-charge is now a non-runner and we’ve turned our attentions to MO’ASSESS. The three-year-old is a potential front-runner and must be greatly respected. The Godolphin inmate didn’t last home over 1m2f at Newbury five weeks ago and may be a different proposition now.

Rhythmic Intent won over further at the St Leger Festival last month and will be popular but he’s never recorded back-to-back wins and is on a career-high perch now. KING OF THE SOUTH made all of last winter’s progress on the all-weather but he’s proven to go well fresh and the son of Kingman could be a key player for William Knight on this turf bow.

Aidan O’Brien bids for a record-equalling tenth win this race and LUXEMBOURG could be well-placed to emulate his sire Camelot, winner of this race a decade ago. The Ballydoyle colt is 2-2 and he toyed with his rivals in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh last month. He’s very exciting, though Champagne Stakes winner Bayside Boy is no mug himself and the Town Moor winner promises to be suited by a mile looking at that effort and his subsequent Dewhurst third.

Once-raced winners Deodar and Gold Medal have potential for better but FLAMING RIB is seeking a four-timer and Tom Dascombe’s Ribchester colt could be hard to stop. He won nicely at Chester last time and won’t be afraid to go and dominate this contest. Mohi and Kit Gabriel fought out a finish at Wolverhampton recently but this is tougher.

It won’t be a win out of turn if INDIAN SOUNDS can prevail here for trainer Paul Midgley. The Exceed And Excel gelding has endured a succession of near misses this season in decent sprints, most recently when nosed out by the thriving Roulston Scar up at Musselburgh this month. From an unchanged mark, he’s taken to give it another big push.

A tough finale. Canoodled got up late over this trip at Newmarket earlier in the month and has claims again with conditions favourable from 3lb higher. Areehaa is surely closing in on a win for Gary Moore and has Ryan Moore on board now but the unexposed JACK DANIEL is on a fair opening mark of 74. The Redcar winner ran a sound race under a penalty at Newcastle three weeks ago and has definite scope for better.
