WE hope you got on the UK Open bets on mrfixitistips.co.uk as the preview generated a modest small profit, but money on the right side of the counter is what we aim for. We’re also aiming to turn around the Premier League campaign, which has been tricky so far.
With seven draws in the first four weeks the sponsors are not holding a “will there be a draw on the night” market, like previous campaigns have.
As we enter Aberdeen for the last of our Scottish visits in this campaign, highlander John Henderson is the contender player and he faces MVG, who experienced a rare double-header defeat. Layers have not tweaked MVG’s chances this week, confident of a bounce back.
Smith Vs Cross – Cross leads 10-3
- 2-way market (tie is refunded)
- Cross – 9/10 Sportingbet
- Smith – 1/1 Skybet
Cross showed depth in making the final of the UK Open last Sunday and ran out of gas against Aspinall in the showdown. En-route Cross beat Smith, whose marvellous run despite his surgery days before, meant that bullyboy was making daily trips to the hospital.
Cross won both meetings last year 7-5 and would not surprise me to see this go over way again with Sportingbet 15/13 on this outcome coming in
Gurney Vs Wade – tied at 4-4
- Gurney – 10/11 Skybet
- Wade – 10/11 Betfair
Wade’s appearances at Aberdeen is not the best having failed to win any of the last five visits. Wadey faces Gurney, who has disappointed some in his early efforts in the Premier League.
The head to head is tied and bookies see Wade as the slight favourite despite being against the throw. Wade made good work of MVG last week and could end his five match streak without a win here. On balance of probabilities it is bound to happen at some point and without using that as a basis of reasoning believe that Wade is in slightly better nick here.
Suljovic Vs Price – Price leads 9-4
- Suljovic – 1/1 Unibet
- Price – 5/6 Coral
Gerwyn Price is experiencing a superb run and made the UK Open Semi Finals last weekend. Price beat off the boo’s from the crowd and was respectful to his opposition throughout. The last the the pair met in a notable encounter was the Grand Slam, where Price won.
The odds suggest Price is the marginal favourite and marking that Price’s momentum is in a positive position, backing the 11/8 for the win is a bit skinny, but with the 5/6 with Coral and Ladbrokes on the draw no bet market appeals to us.
Barney Vs Wright – tied 11-11
- Barney – 23/10 Skybet
- Wright – 1/2 BetVictor
The two-way market has a difference of opinion with a slightly under-rounded market as per the above. Both were disappointing at the UK Open, with Barney crashing outside the top 32 and potentially nosediving fast also at the foot of the Premier League and around the 8/11 market to finish bottom with five weeks to go with Coral.
Wright yet again changed his set up, and continual tweaking with this breeds little confidence in backing Snakebite. Fourth on the billing last weeks UK Open cannot have given much confidence to either player and feel that the anticipated scrappy game that could feature could make maximums at a premium with Sportingbet at 19/20 for fewer than six in the game.
MVG Vs Henderson – MVG leads 8-1
- MVG – 1/14 Unibet
- Henderson – 10/1 Skybet
The contender Henderson’s only victory was at the World Grand Prix 2017, capitalising on the double start format and bar a magnificent winning performance, back to the match play format, has not found the winning line.
Bookmakers firmly believe MVG will bounce back as the three way market has Hendo at 10/1 with the draw no bet market at the same price for the Highlander.
I anticipate Henderson to put up a brave fight, but if MVG wants to motor home quickly could be difficult to stop. MVG to win 7-2 or better is no bigger than 6/5 with Betway. The 4/6 with Betfair to win 7-3 or greater may appeal to punters. I anticipate with Henderson’s maximum line well covered at 2, MVG will not need to be at his full potential, without discredit to Hendo. Nor can we be certain of the rest that departing from the UK Open and tonight been to the Green Machine.
